Medical Assistant Online Hybrid

This program provides medical assisting students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform clinical procedures in various medical office settings. Medical assistants perform routine clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, optometrists, and many other specialists running smoothly. Clinical duties may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, assisting the physician during the examination, and assisting with minor surgery. Medical assistants also draw blood, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. Additionally, they instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications and authorize drug refills as directed by a physician, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, and maintain clinical equipment in an ambulatory care setting.
